Re: Jags 2010
Think the little pads on their heads are where they attach to the rocks as wrigglers, anyone know the name of it?

The fry appear to hatch out spontaneously, without requiring the assistance of their parents to chew them out of their eggshells. The fry are moved by the parents into previously created craters in the gravel. The fry attach to each other or to the substrate by an adhesive surface on top of their heads. They achieve the free-swimming stage on post-spawn day seven. Their yolk sacs are almost completely absorbed at this point and they are able to take newly-hatched Artemia.

Re: Jags 2010
Think over half the fry got sucked into my filters I MIGHT clean the canisters tomorrow, just got around to putting sponges on most of the intakes. I didn't need all those fry anyway.
Might just be my imagination but I swear over half are missing now. I was being constantly attacked while putting the sponges on. The shovelnose probably snagged a couple, need to find a new home for them, they are getting harassed when they get within 4 feet of the fry, if the fry aren't at the end of the tank the shovelnose are cowering in a corner near the surface.

Re: Jags 2010
Wow, went ahead and took a peek in the canisters, saw some fry in the XP1 that was right over top of them when I decided to finally put some sponges on. Opened it up and there was around 30 fry in there! Didn't see anything in the XP3 from shining a light in it but it's near the middle of the tank. I shut off one of the Emp400's when the eggs "hatched" but the other one is right beside the intake for that XP1, just know there's more in there but it'll have to wait.

Re: Jags 2010
Down to about 10 fry now, saw them hanging out near the overflow this morning pretty sure they got sucked down to the sump. I've got the old "coffee can filter" in there as a first stage, the first sponge is so coarse the fry are probably stuck in the center of it somewhere, I couldn't find them in there.
Thought I had a DIY on here somewhere for the coffee can here's some old pics of what it is
