Leleupi and transcriptus
Would leleupi and transcriptus work together in a heavily rocked, four foot tank (60 gallons) or would they be too aggressive to keep successfully? If so, how many of each would you suggest?

Re: Leleupi and transcriptus
I would think in a 4 ft tank a pair of each would have enough space.
The Juli transcriptus (my favorite Julis!) I had have did not tolerate any other Julis with them once they had paired off. Had 4, left with two, but don't seem to mind anybody else. I have never kept leulupi, so have no clue how they behave.
My transcriptus have never spawned, either... whether alone or with tank-mates.

Re: Leleupi and transcriptus
I wound up with one pair of Transcriptus.
I am getting 10 Leleupi later this week.
After they get a little more size I am going to add them to my
Calvus, and Transcriptus tank.

Betty, you won't have any problems with the transcriptus. I'm just worried about the leleupi. They are beautiful fish but pretty nasty little buggers. However, the 60g might just do the trick.

Yep had leleupi kill Julies (ornatus). But had em live together ok as well (regani kipili and malieri gombi) . I think they tend to bully the smaller ones with yellow in them but reserve their worst agression for each other so with those high numbers they may be too busy with each other to bother the Julies much. Let us know how it goes for you. Number of each and tank size prob makes the difference.
All the best James

Thank you for the replies. I'm not sure if I will try it or not, but was considering it. I think the color combination would look nice together, but I don't want to have leleupis beating on the julies. I have several juvies that will need to go to new homes soon. I'll let you know how it goes if I do decide to keep some of them and try it.

Re: Leleupi and transcriptus
I have a pair of transcriptus in my 195gallon community tank; the pair have multiple spawns, the pair is extremely protective over there nesting site. I have 12 Leleupis inside this tank, they tend to stay away from the nest site. I also have 3 dickfeldis & 6 reganis. Transcriptus is not tolerant with reganis. My transcriptus male had been visiting the nest site of the dickfeldis.

Wow, a 195 gallon tank would be a dream come true for me.
I've decided not to try them together in this 60 gallon tank. I'll probably just take them to the lfs.
