Convicts - two types (White and Black)
A while back I bought a breeding pair of white convicts (sold to me as albino) or Pink, or Gold depending on who you ask - some even say Luestic HRP - I call them a tank strain of white convicts, I guess only DNA testing can tell us for sure. I was breeding them as feeders for the longest time but they grow too slow. I have these in most of my tanks now as clean up crews or live food providers or just plain entertainment. I love watching a pair fend off fish 3 times their size...or at least try.
This is King Henry, he earned the name by killing 3 wives before I removed him from all females. All the other whites I have are his off spring
He has teeth (I just noticed this recently)
Some of his kids
Standard Black Convicts. Both of these were feeders that made the grade. After 2 weeks with a flowerhorn I yanked her out as fast as I could once I saw her colors. She's living in a grow out with no males. I want her to get bigger so I can put her in a show tank.
Her ex-husband, he lived with the oscars for about 6 months before I gave him away. It must have emotionally scared him becuase now he is a bully
I've managed to do what few other hobbist have - breed convicts! The rumors that you can breed convicts in a cup of coffee are false. You need the right amount of cream and sugar or all you get is fish flavored coffee!

Well trying too.....

Wow, that female is pretty. I've never kept convicts, but I've heard they will spawn in the bag on the way home.
I feel a little sorry for that poor thing that was turned into a meal. They look too big!

Here's some new one's of the females. The two black females had been living in a 20g breeder with 8-10 jewels. They held their own but got some torn fins. They are in a 125g community tank now.

Very nice Cons. I got rid of mine.
I could not keep up with the babies.
My Firemouths are just as bad.

I too had a breeding pair of black convicts.
They are very prolific breeders, but they are fun to watch
parent their young and defend them as well.
I really miss my early CA and SA days in the hobby.
I may just have to return to my earlier roots at least for one tank!
