F1 Frontosa "Zaire Blue" Kapampa
Well, I've received my first fronts. I paid for 10 but received 13 from a fellow fishkeeper at the auction I attended yesterday. I have them in my 50G right now with 4 Yellow Kasanga Comps to start growing them out. The fronts are about 1" and the comps range from 1" to 1.5"...so I'm hoping they'll grow out together without any issues.
I plan on keeping a diary on these with regular pics so I can document their growth. I also expect to be able to thin them down to a group of 8 or so, hopefully selling the rest to recoup some of the money spent on them. I did get them at what I consider a steal: $140 for 13. My research says that was a good price. Along with the $7 I paid for the 4 Comps, I think I didn't do too bad in getting what I wanted for my first Tang tank.
Will update with pics and videos soon.

I wondered if you made it to that auction this weekend. Good to hear you picked up what you wanted!
Make sure to post some of those pictures as they grow.

Sounds like a great deal to me. I like the idea of a diary to keep up with the growth.

Thanks for the compliments guys.
Here's a video I took last night of them. I took another one this morning of them feeding, but I left it uploading and headed to work and the upload failed, so I'll try it again tonight.

Very nice,
Great deal on them.
I grew my Fronts out in a 55 for the 1st 8 months or so.
Mine were much bigger when I got them than yours. Closer to 3 1/2 inches.
I them moved them to a 125, and they have thrived.
My biggest male is anout 10 inches now.

Here's another update. I think I might just do pics every couple of weeks until they start to really grow. I definitely need to get some darker substrate cuz they're really washed out right now. Still loving them tho.

Any updated pictures or video, Emil? Did you swap out that substrate yet or did they get used to it?

Betty, they're doing pretty good. I got a 125G tank set up for them, but I'm gonna reseal it first. I ordered the TMS last week so it should be here soon. I'm hoping I can have their tank set up in the next few weeks. I am starting to see some growth, so I'm happy about that. I have some videos but I won;t upload them until I'm done with my desktop (I put a new power supply in it but want to see if they'll replace it since it's still under warranty).

Coloring very nicely..
I do not think these will grow as fast as the Burundi.
They get much more blue to them.

Sounds good, bet they will look great in that 125 as they grow.
(Am I remembering correctly that you were downsizing not all that long ago?)

Your little fronts are looking good! Love the comps, too.
Nice thing about getting juvies is you get to enjoy watching them grow, and fronts grow slowly enough that you don't have to get in a big hurry for that really big tank they will eventually need.
