Updated pics of my 29 gallon
When I took my multies and some rocks (for bacterial seed material) out of the 29 and put them into the 125 it left the 29 looking pretty ugly. So last Monday I re-scaped it and Thursday I bought two more alto. calvus "yellow" for it. The calvus I know are calvus because I felt their foreheads. LOL.
Anyway, here's a few pics of the new tank and them. The empty space on the right will have some shells and some pearly ocelottus (meleagris/stappersii) shellies or gold occies (if Dave doesn't get the Pearlys in) in it when my fish order comes in. I might have to open up a little more area once they come in depending on their size. Probably have to happen eventually anyway.
I like how well defined the stripes are on the little calvus. I hope they stay that way. I'll have to look back to some older pics to see if the bigger one had them so dark or not. They certainly seem to be happy in their new digs.

Re: Updated pics of my 29 gallon
Are the calvus and julies getting along? I have five calvus growing ever-so-slowly in a small tank as well and they spend most of their time in the rocks. I had thought about adding a few small julies from another tank to see how they'd do together.

Re: Updated pics of my 29 gallon
The one larger julie takes a whack at the calvus every once in a while. The calvus do that thing where they curl up and just let them bite scales. At this point (about 3 months) the attacks aren't really even attacks anymore, I think the julie has learned its lesson. The calvus takes it completely in stride. Even the little ones take it like the bigger one.
I'm not sure if a really big julie could harm a really small alto or not. Probably if the size difference was great enough.
