Before we all got sick, I went to reef store for saltwater and the young man working there gave me four peppermint shrimp that were collected locally.
They don't charge for them.
They were kind of shy at first, but now come running out when it's feeding time.

Friday I bought a small green and orange zoanth plug ($10) and 3 little nickle-sized mushroom corals ($5 for 3) I could afford those, lol, and wanted to
see how they would do in my tank.

The zoanth looks good, one mushroom is still where I placed it, one is lower down, and the other is nowhere to be seen.
I don't know if they moved themselves or some of the other inhabitants moved them for me...

So far, everything looks alive! lol

good to hear, peppermint shrimp do a great job eating aiptaisia/mojano anemones, one nice perk to keeping them in the reef. wish they were free here!

The guy at the reef store told lme they are great at eating aptasia if you don't feed them for a while, but they really won't eat majano, that's why I nuked the rocks in the South Texas sun... but the majanos are gone!
wonder where the 3rd mushroom coral went?

The missing little mushroom went walk (or float) about. I discovered it and moved it to another location pleasing to my eye, and maybe pleasing to the mushroom also, its still there.
A few days later, some of the zoanths were missing from the plug they were on, but have reappeared in other places. Don't know if they were just not glued down as well as thought, or were able to shift themselves.
Since then I bought a larger brown mushroom coral, and the girl at the reef store gave me a plug with a few more zoanth buds (or polyps, or whatever they are called)
All are alive, but the brown mushroom went walk about also, and is on the other side of the tank from where I placed him originally.

Well, all critters are looking good, just not all of them in the place I first put them, lol. The brown mushroom has changed it's color in my tank to a more reddish-maroon color, which is ok with me.

Yesterday I bought 2 more mushroom corals, a greenish one different from the ones I
already had, and a ricordia mushroom, that looks like it has little bubble or beads all
over it. It was getting ready to split into 3, so hopefully it will multiply.
I also bought a little "twig" of rock that has a tiny bit of xenia growing on it, but so far this morning it has not opened up, so it may not be happy in my tank, I guess we will see....

nice pick ups... i love ricordia, i have a couple orange and blue ones that are just starting to multiply.

give the xenia a couple days... mine took 2 days to open up. im sure xenia will do fine in your tank, in no time it will grow like a weed!... im constantly cutting my back from taking over the center of the tank!

The ricordia mushroom is looking really good, I'm very pleased with it.
The xenia appears to be ok, it was only a tiny little piece on the piece of rock, but there was something else growing on it, not sure if it is some kind of deep red macro
algae, or something else, it looks like those disc-shaped fungi that grow on dead tree stumps. It looks cool any way!
