Who's holding in your tanks today?
Today I have (each in a different tank) one yellow lab, a hongi (yay, finally!) and one of my new Protomelas Red Empress... got to make some room
for new fry if I'm lucky enough they all hold to term.

Re: Who's holding in your tanks today?
I pulled out the lab to strip her, and she spit out a mouthful of Rusty fry!
Oh my! Stu got mad at me when I just poured them all back in the main tank.
Yesterday I saw the big, old female lab and the male lab spawning, with the Rusty male trying to get in on the action, so I guess I will have to split those two species up. I have two Rusty females holding now, and about 4
demasoni.

That's too bad about the fry. I saw my male auratus trying to get in on flavus spawning a couple of weeks ago. I got a little video of it that I'll have to upload. Last year I had a female flavus spit auratus-looking fry.

Re: Who's holding in your tanks today?
The empress is holding again, and two rusties, I will have to ask Stu for help catching them, there's about a ton of big rocks in that tank.
My BN plecos are churning out fry like crazy now.
I'm having to move fish around to find a place to put them all!

Re: Who's holding in your tanks today?
Today I have white lab fry - too early to tell how many. Happened today while I was at work, so I 'm sure mom ate some. She is back in the main tank, so the fry should be good. Any suggestions for good fry food?

Re: Who's holding in your tanks today?
Congrats, yoda. You can feed them pretty much what you feed the adults, just powder it down as much as you can. I've had good results with baby brine shrimp, Hikari First Bites for a short time, and also NLS grow.
I have the usual flavus, rusty, yellow labs holding as well as first time tropheus. A pair of the juli fry from last winter have grown up and I spotted a few fry swimming around their cave.

Hi and welcome to the forum! Congrats to the fry. I useally start with frozen cyklops, and after a couple of weeks I give them grinded pellets. I use a ordernary pepper grinder for the pellets. NLS or Aquatic Nature are good brands.

Had to get a divider for the baby tank today. I have 8-9 white lab fry on one side and another holding white lab female on the other.
