Cryptoheros Cutteri
Cutteri are some of my favorite cichlids. Their color changing ability when spawning is amazing. They go from yellow and blue with red fins and blue eyes to balck and white! They can be mean when breeding. I had a pair in a 55g with convicts. Both had fry, after a few weeks the cutteri had 80% of the tank and the convicts had a corner. Interesting thing was they took care of each others fry, and they looked different enough that I could easily tell them apart.
I don't have any good pic's of their eyes, but think of a person with bright ocean blue eyes. Another common name for them is Blue eyed cichlid. They turn black when mating.
Video of the pair with fry. This is a good example of their colors as the male is in close to normal dress and the female in breeding

Danger-Chicken, you've just got to stop posting up these
amazing fish!
You are convincing me to go back to CA and SA's again!
My wife would probably kill me if I started another tank!
Thank for sharing!

Very nice fish and pictures. The Cryptoheros species are my favorite CA cichlids. Just received two more myself, C. spilurus and C. panamensis. I am still looking for C. sajica.
No, she wouldn't. She is a very nice lady and would absolutely love it if you get more tanks. Whatever makes YOU happy

Just want to give them some time to settle in. They are still a bit nervous and are hiding when that big ugly German guy comes too close.
Re: Cryptoheros Cutteri
I've want both of those but can't find them, espceially the panamensis. I picked up a sajica from Rapps last month. I'm not sure if you can get shipments from him, but rumor has it you'll be in my neighborhood in May.buntbarsch wrote:Very nice fish and pictures. The Cryptoheros species are my favorite CA cichlids. Here's a few new ones from last month that I didn't get around to posting.
I don't know why but this picture is getting cutoff on the right side, it shows the full pic on photobucket

Nice pics!
I have a question about the first fish in your last post.
Is the dorsal fin really that blue or is that just the effect of the camera or lighting in the tank?
Beautiful fish, just wondering!
