Congrats!
They're are looking good and nicely colored. I don't know if I would have known they were holding if you hadn't said they were.

Re: Troph's Spawned!!!
It's a lot more obvious in person but still nothing like a paracyp or mbuna with a mouthfull.
Dmetal (Brian) was over here Saturday and we both agreed female 2's vent was swollen a bit, last night it was obvious her tube was down so I couldn't wait to get home today to see if she'd spawned.

Re: Troph's Spawned!!!
They're still holdin!!! With any luck there will be a dozen fry between the both of em... Just need 3 or 4 more spawns... and all of them to hold... and we'll have you a nice group to grow out in the 90g
I'll keep ya posted but I'm really happy that they've held this long... we'll see if they make it the distance.

Re: Troph's Spawned!!!
haha... yep... I currently have a dozen or so Juvenile convicts and a small group of Tinfoils in the tank. Used some existing biomax from an AC70 to jumpstart the new Fluval 405s. For all intensive purposes, I think it's ready. I find myself watching the Barbs school though... strange.

Re: Troph's Spawned!!!
Got another female holding and yet another larger female that has been hangin out in one of the males territory for a couple days. We'll see how long this smaller female holds, she's well conditioned so that won't be a problem and she took in some food without swallowing the eggs this afternoon so hopefully she knows what she's doing. Sorry, no pictures of her yet... the camera bag is in the Blazer and the wife drove it to work.

Re: Troph's Spawned!!!
Well, the female that was holding held for 4 days and then they were gone.
But, I've had 2 spawns in 2 days. Both females are large and both seem to have quite the mouthfull's.
The one female in particular is HUGE. I had believed up until today that it was a male. It came in looking totally emaciated, it had a huge head, very thin body... very thin. I was actually worried at first that it might not make it. It ate just fine right from the start but it had a lot of filling out to do. Based on the size of it's head I was convinced that not only was it a male but that it would be the biggest male in the tank once it filled out. This had me very concerned because I had 2 good sized very healthy males lay claim to territories right from the start. I feared that once "slim" put on some weight and regained it's health completely that it would challenge one or both of the males for a territory and I was afraid that "slim" would challenge to soon and would end up dead. "Slim" is still to this day not fully filled out, definitely much healthier than it arrived but still on the slim side. Yesterday morning while watching another female that was obviously ready to spawn, I noticed that "slim" appeared to be dropping an egg tube??? Could it be that "slim" was a female? I sat in disbelief for over an hour today and watched her spawn, despite her thin body she has a HUGE mouthful. I wouldn't be surprised if she's holding more than a dozen. I'm playing golf tomorrow followed by a "surf and turf" BBQ (Steak and lobster tails on the grill), but I promise I'll get the camera out of the bag and get a picture of "Slim". I can't believe that the largest fish I have in a tank full of wild caught tropheus is a female, really blows my mind. She's still not conditioned the way I would like to see her but I figure I'll give her 2 weeks and possibly strip her. I don't want to see her down to nothing again like she was when she came in. I had actually considered separating her early on so that I could try to get her body weight up but was fearfull that trying to re-introduce her to a very new colony might do more harm then good ( I say her now because I know that it's a female, again I was convinced this was an extremely stressed and thin male up until today when I watched her spawn)
Cross your fingers for both females, but especially for "Slim"... this is one of those fish that has become very special to me because it came so far when it looked so bleak. I've been pulling so hard for this fish to make the come back, I just hope this spawn doesn't cause her problems.
