Re: snails
depends on how much you like snails
I have a tank just to grow snails as feeders, but my canisters seem to work just as good

Re: snails
2 can turn to hundreds in a few months if it's the kind I have, I forgot the Id on them. Not sure if discus will eat them, but if they leave the plants alone then they might be alright. But it's easier to get them out now before they have eggs everywhere if you don't want them.

Re: snails
i like them but they are small brown ones i have a pick in on of my threads about my 40 breeder but i havent seen them on the plants and my plants are doing fine since i have noticed them so i guess hundreds would just be annoying

Re: snails
The nice thing about snails, if there is a nice thing, is that you can pick them out if the numbers get high. I had them in a tropical tank and they did eventually start to destroy my plant so I just spent 20 minutes with my arm in the tank and picked out a lot of them. You may have to do that once in a while if the numbers get way up.
I tried a clown loach in my tropical tank. It was supposed to eat them but I can't say for sure that it ever ate one. I suppose a clown loach would get ripped up pretty bad by cichlids though.
