Tropheus moorii Kantalamba "Red Rainbow"
This was supposed to be a shot of 3 of them grazing on the rock but 1 of them decided to swap sides and ruined it!!! Or, maybe it's just a camera hog

Well Mike, if they don't see the light now, they never will. You picked one of the prettiest variant.
Re: Tropheus moorii Kantalamba "Red Rainbow"
They do look really pretty. I bet their color is even better in person, without the flash. I know how that can wash out the colors.

Wow, nice lookin fishies.
How big does the biggest tropheus get?
I thought about a small group of texas petro's
but I still think I would want bigger fish.

Re: Tropheus moorii Kantalamba "Red Rainbow"
Klaus, my thoughts exactly... if this don't convince em, there's little hope aside from a combination of electro-shock therapy and hypnosis!!!
Betty, I've sat and watched them the past 2 days and am amazed at how awesome they are. Of course it probably doesn't help that I've been waiting soooo long to finally get them. My other fish didn't even get their lights turned on today... shame on me
Jimmy, if you want big... you want the Petrochromis Blue Giant!!! They're enormous!!! Find an 8ft tank and fill er up Bro!!!
Jeff, of course they're smiling... they LOVE ME!!!
Thanks everyone, I'll keep you posted

Thanks Nicole!!! Congrats on yours as well
They're lookin even better today!!! Several more have colored up and are showing off now, not just the 2 dominant males.

Nice fish. Maybe some day when I know what I'm doing I will give tropheus a try.

Re: Tropheus moorii Kantalamba "Red Rainbow"
There isn't much in the pictures to give a sense of scale. How big are they? I would guess a decent size but it is hard to tell. My 10 year old thinks that we should get some.

Re: Tropheus moorii Kantalamba "Red Rainbow"
Definitely lovin' em!!!
The largest male is about 5", most of the fish in the group are around 4" with a few around 3". Klaus has a great article in the "Member Articles" section on Tropheus, I'd recommend reading it and doing plenty of homework on these fish. They're definitely amazing tho and well worth the preparation. Your 10 year old has great taste in fish
Thanks for the compliments everyone
You'll probably get tired of looking at the pictures before I get tired of watching/photographing these guys. I seriously need to clean the glass on the tank, some of those shots would be real decent if it weren't for dirty glass
