question about mbunas together with peacocks and haps
Ok so right now in my tank i have: 1 Auratus, 3 Acies, 3 yellow lab, 3 Kenyis, and 1 Red Peacock.
I would like to get rid of everything but the peacock, 2 of the labs, and my acies and add some male peacocks and haps. do i have to worry about the mbunas being females or not? will the peacocks and haps try and pair with the mbunas?
Thank you for the help in advance.

It do happen. As an example my greshakei male tries all the time to breed with my red fin femals. Peacock males are no different.

It´s always a risk, but who wants a tank with only one species? I say keep them together. If you get hybrids they will be easy to spot.

Do you mean that you are only gonna add male peacocks and haps?
If you do that the aggression will probebly be between them and not against the mbunas so much.

If you are going to keep all males of peas & haps it would be best to keep all males of mbuna too .

maybe i will plan on going the other way with this and do more mbunas, i hear that it is good to over crowd a mbuna tank in order to keep agression down. what would be a good number for a 72 gallon tank.
