How are they doing? And is it true that they need dark rocks and a dark substrate? I'd like some, but don't want to change out my sand.

J, I'm not positive about the lighter substrate. I would think against a dark background with subdued lighting they would still look good. The lighter substrate would reflect more light back up tho. These guys don't really show up from across the room, when you get eye level with the tank and the lighting catches em right they really look good tho. I can see why some have said they were a disappointment, but since I spend a good bit of time right in front of the tank I get a close up view of thier beauty constantly... I like em even more than I thought I would to be totally honest, really neat fish
