Wild Caught shot ( one more for the weekend!)
OK, since some members may be stuck inside this weekend with the snow,,,I'll post another, easier shot for you all to take a guess at.
Rift_Lake_Rules is side lined for this one as he got the last correct answer (but don't let that stop you from poking a few members that may be wrong!)
OK, my game,my rules
This is one of my personal favorite shots from thsi past year!
Good luck,,,,,Enjoy!
Cheers,Larry

I think bulldogg is right, but it's hard to tell with so much dark in the pic. If it's not a geertsi then maybe a copadichromis ilesi?

Bulldogg is correct !
I guess the early bird does get the worm (posted reply just before 8am!)
Thanks for sittin on the bench Rift_Lake _Rules,,,was not to long though!
Bulldogg gets to watch and the next one.
If you have an older monitor the picture may indeed be a bit to dark, I have HD.
This shot was taken at a depth of 120 ft.
Males can be found in shallower water but would not be in breeding color.
Breeding males are found deeper than 90 ft.
They protect an area of about 20 feet in either direction along the sloping rocky wall, spawning
on a small ledge that sticks out only as far as they are long (about 6-7 inches) this ledge may
have a slight overhang to it.
Thanks to all who participated!
Cheers,Larry

Re: Wild Caught shot ( one more for the weekend!)
Here's another picture for you all.
DO YOU ever wonder what the person looks like who the fish was named after?
Copadichromis geertsi was named after Martin Geerts, from the Netherlands.
We have been friends for a long time and have been on more than one Lake Malawi trip together (collecting and research).
Martin has written several articles for Cichlid News and one in particular about why the genus name of Maylandia is a novem nudem (not valid)
over Metriclima. This interesting debate is always brought up every year while out on the boat.
Pictured below with myself, at the end of our collecting trip (research) before I left to go back to the Maleris to finish up with installing "net busters",,, the picture was taken by his son Noud Geerts.
