106 gallon Tropheus tank.

I´ve changed my 106 gallon to a Tanganyika setup. Been thinking about this since spring that something new has to happen. I had my mind set on Tropheus moorii "limespot" from Kapampa, but the petshop only had 14 of them. Because of that i bought another tropheus group to put in with them. 14 Tropheus duboisi, "Maswa". A little bit later i will also add a small group of Eretmodus and this tank will be done. They are all pretty small (1,2-2,4 inches). Here are some pics.

Thanks Jeff! I ordered the eretmodus with the tropheus, but the zooshop forgot to pack them. To bad the shop is 560 miles from my home. Will have to take a 4 hour roadtripp to a nearer shop to get them, but that is just the way it is when you live up north.

Thanks, it´s only been a couple of weeks. So far it has been great fun. Really needed something new and with a little different behavior. It all started with scare. A friend trasported the fish for me from just outside Gothenburg. About 9-10 hours in a car and the petshop owner had put 7 in each bag and the bags where small. The smell when i oppened the bags where really bad and the fish did´nt look that good either. My friend lost 3 of his fish. Tropheus is very sencitive fish and how he could so many in each bag when he new that they where to be transported 560 miles by car.

Mine were in a similar situation when I got them. A big bag with several younger ones in them and two or three other bags with a few adults in each. A couple were dead in the bags. One bag was leaking It was a mess and I ended up having to deal with bloat from day one.

You haven't given up all of your Malawis have you!?  

No, i still have malawis in my 66 gallon and it will stay that way. Had to get rid of my old alpha crabro though and that sucked. He is swimming in a friends tank now.

Whew! That's good that you can rehome with someone that you trust to take good care of them. There are so many other fish that I would like to try, but I'm so attached to the fish that I've had for all these years and although they are slowly dwindling away, I feel like some of them are going to out live me.

He is swimming in a 300 gallon tank with other crabros, so he seems happy there. Yeah it´s tough to get rid of a fish with great personality that you had for ever. But it seemed wrong to put him in a 66 gallon with smaller mbuna. Both for him and the others. That would not have ended well.

Any update? Did you get the eretmodus?

No eretmodus yet. We´ve had a real cold front over here with a lot of snow, so i have stayed pretty much inside the last couple of weeks. The only thing that´s happened in the tank is that there are now a few limespots fry swiming in there.
