Turtleman's 29G Saulosi Species Tank
Hi guys, picked up a breeding group of Saulosi. There's 1M & 7F. Two are currently holding and 1 spit 16 about 5 days before I picked them up. Paid $40 for the group from a fellow breeder whom I've transacted with before...not too shabby.

Getting busy already. I have 30 Saulosi fry and looks like at least 2 more are holding.

Great looking saulosi group and congrats to the fry! Are you gonna continue to keep this group in a 29 gallon? Would be interesting to see if it works in the long run. A friend of mine bought fish from a guy that breeds demasoni in a 16 gallon tank. I did´nt think that was possible as also the femals are so nasty to each other, but then again i have 11 almost full size dems in a heavily planted 16 gallon tank as well. 5 of them are males. The thick vegetation makes it easy for them to get away when needed and also helps with the water quality.

Yes, I'm gonna try them in the 29G long term. We'll see how it works. I figure with only 1 male and so many females, it should be fine.

I was surprised to see that saulosi are on the CARES endangered species list.

Here is a link to what is being done in Lake Malawi, with regard to Ps.Saulosi.
http://www.cichlidpress.com/smgfund/smgfund19.html
Makes for a good read (from the start), there's a lot there, but this linked page gets down to the Ps.Saulosi and what they are doing about it.
I am planning on going back this year and hoping that while on my usual Lake Malawi Safaris we will be introducing the first Ps.Saulosi back to the reef (fish being bred at Stuart M Grant Ltd)!
Cheers,Larry

I hope the saulosi can recover on their own, but glad there is a backup plan to reintroduce them.
