how many shellies do you all think I can put in a 29 gallon tank? and what can I put in a 45g?

You can put a multitude of multis or similis in a 29 gallon, and several pairs of other
species. But, you'll be wasting all that space in the upper water column. Shellies
do fine in short tanks, they don't make use of the upper reaches much, only during feeding times, at least mine don't
