A few tropheus pics
They are so hard to photograph because they are constantly in motion at a very fast speed, but I had over half of the water drained during a water change, which slowed them down a little.

Re: A few tropheus pics
Thanks. I wish I could take better pictures. These don't really show how deep the red color is on most of these fish. I guess the flash is the problem, but without it, they are just a blur.

Wow Betty, they look amazing.
Do you still think that they are difficult to keep?

Re: A few tropheus pics
They are a fun fish, Mitch, and very active -- will keep you entertained if you like to sit and watch the tank.
Klaus, not nearly as bad as I was expecting. The first week or two were terrible, my worst nightmare come true, but I believe that was brought on by the stress of their travel that day. They were not fasted, their packaging was not the greatest, too long in the bags, too many in some of the bags, and sharing a small amount of water with a dead fish, etc.
Now that they are settled in, they are causing me no worries. I keep with their routine, but they are forgiving if I have to deviate from that from time to time.
I love these fish! I know why they are among your favorites.

A few more recent pictures. The fry have grown a bit.
The heater on their tank seems to have stopped working properly, so I'm off to the store to trade it in before it explodes. (Stealth heater)

Looking good !!! The small ones are really cute. Do you feed your tropheus NLS Cichlid Formula?

Re: A few tropheus pics
Really lookin good Betty!!! Mitch called me Saturday and while we were yapping about fish these guys came up. I think your tropheus will be what pushes him over the edge, I predict he'll have a tropheus tank within a year. That's the greatest compliment we can get, when someone sees our fish and it interests them in getting some. Don't get better than that
I'm glad they're doing well for you and provide you with enjoyment.

Re: A few tropheus pics
I do feed them NLS Cichlid formula. I also give them some spirulina flakes because I still have a bunch of it left, originally purchased because it's (NLS and algae flake) what they were eating before I got them. I wanted to keep them on the same diet they were used to.
Mitch, you should give them a try. The big problem will be deciding which ones!

Re: A few tropheus pics
This isn't a good picture, but I thought it was cute -- looked like they were kissing, although I'm sure they weren't. These were two of the young ones. They were scuffling around the tank like this for several minutes. Not even feeding would distract them.

Betty, that is a beautiful shot.
The two young guys are just trying to establish the pecking order.

Re: A few tropheus pics
Same old fish, but it's been so quiet around here, I thought I'd post some pics.
These two have no red on them.
This young one is almost solid black.
