Re: just thinking
personally i wouldnt use a 45 gal, too tall. your going to need alot of light to get the penetration u need down to any corals in the lower half of the tank. I also hate 12" width tanks over 30 gallons. Also with all that height, but small width, your aqua scape will be tough, getting your live rock to look good but still have spots to place corals.
do u still have the 40 breeder u bought off me last year? that would be perfect.

Re: just thinking
well u could always sell off the 45 and use it towards a 40 breeder... heck even a 20 long would be a sweet reef tank... i just dont like 45's cuz of all that height.
this is a crappy pic, but this is my buddies 15 gal, lil tank, but an awesome nano reef. We used a 10 gal for a sump.
4x 2ft t5 HO's. small marineland pump for the return off the sump and a couple koralia nanos for circulation... we made a homemade siphon overflow box for it as well.
pretty inexpensive set-up, to have a really nice nano reef.

a 10 gal for the sump
return pump: something like the marineland 1100

75-100w heater
GE silicon I doors and windows, hose claps, 1/2" & 3/4" tubing, acrylic sheets for the sump walls, a couple barb fitting.
30lbs of live sand, and 20 lbs of live rock.
a koralia nano or 2
