Angel fish tank Empty Angel fish tank

Post by yodahorn Mon Jun 28, 2010 11:22 pm

I have recently set up a planted 60 gallon (48" x 12" x 24"). The current stock list is 5 congo tetras, 9 serpae tetras, 4 angels. I will need to add some algae eaters at some point, but wanted to get your opinion on the non-cleaning crew additions to the tank. I thought about adding a few more of each tetra, but also thought about adding a few bosemani rainbows. What do you guys think I should add to the tank?

I love the bosemani rainbows and would rather have a nice group of 10 in this tank then the tetras. Tetras are fin nippers and that is not very desirable with the angels. JMO.

I have had some thread-fin rainbows in my planted tank for several years now, they are really unusual and peaceful.

Added four bosemani rainbows, still pretty small. Also, clown loaches were 1/2 off, got a few of those too. Now need to add some nerite snails for algae control and then other than letting the plants grow the tank is done. I will probably add another filter too.

Looks nice, I like all of those plants. You might need to add a big sword or a flat piece of rock if your angels pair off and decide to spawn! Back when I used to keep them, they always chose one of those two spots to attach their eggs. Smile

The coral in the tank shot the ph to 9, I figured this out while trying to investigating while a couple fish a day were dying. After that disaster and removing a bully angelfish and adding some more fish the current stock list is:

1 Angelfish
6 Bosemani Rainbows (3 males and 3 females)
1 New Guinea Red Rainbow
1 Pair of Congo Tetras
8 Serpae Tetras
5 Clown Loaches
