Altolamprologus calvus Black Zambian

Post by Rift_Lakes_Rule on Sun Jun 28, 2009 7:38 pm

Here's some crappy pic's of my wild caught Black calvus. Embarassed

This is their home. Tank is a 40 long, divided to 3 feet long for the breeding chamber and 10 inches long for the fry chamber. (See my Hamburg Mattenfilter DIY Wink ) Filtration is the Mattenfilter along with a Penguin 330 HOB.

I bought a trio of these guys, it wasn't working out between the 2 females so 1 has been removed and is currently hanging out with my Cyphotilapia gibberosa Moba juvies.

Calvus

Post by Timbothediver on Sat Jul 18, 2009 5:28 pm

Nice looking fish. I have just bought a Pair of Wild caught Calvus yesterday. The female is still hiding but the male has been out but isnt feeding yet. They are beautiful looking fish and I am really excited having them. They are housed in a 48" tank with 3 Juli Regani and a nice shoal of Leptosoma.

That's awesome Timbo!!! You'll love these guys, might take em a while to get comfortable in your tank but having tankmates should speed up the process. As you probably know it's not uncommon for these guys to hide out for up to 2 weeks before starting to lighten up to thier new surroundings. I'll be looking forward to seeing some pics Wink

And, WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!! Very Happy

Wow his black in this picture is really deep. Does he change or is the camera man just getting better at catching his color?

First of all... SHE would be pretty upset if she could read... Razz

She shows the best color out of the trio that I've got. I recently moved her back in with the male, moved the other female out. Hoping they will spawn one of these days.

Thanks guys Wink
