I have 2 groups of these awesome fish. The first 2 pictures were taken in my 240 gallon, and the bigger ones are 4 years old. The smaller guys are around 2 1/2 years old. The big boys are about 9 inches and really thick.

The last picture is of my breeding Trio in the 110 gallon. I successfully pulled 6 fry from one female last month. (i stripped her and dropped the egg tumbler cup and about 20 babies were gobbled up by the Father No )

Hope you enjoy!

Awesome looking fish and you are certainly dedicated to this species!

What do you do with all the fry, by the way?

Thanks for sharing!

Absolutely beautiful! I have a guy who breeds these close to me, he brings a batch to all the auctions and sometimes they go for a song. As much as I like them I have always passed due to the space they require to thrive.

Thanks so much for the kind words. Yes, they do need space. They are so peaceful to watch swim and they have great personalities... good beggars for food!

This is my first "successfull" strip of the female. So I'm growing them out currently and will sell them locally. Since I have 3 different bloodlines, I wan to see if I can get a few females from this first spawn.

Females for me are hard to come by. I purchased 8 of them 2 1/2 years ago and only 2 females. It takes so long for them to color up. The adult males can sell for a good bit due to the time it takes for them to color up.

I've heard from others that they are prone to early deaths due to internal tumors similar to cancer in our bodies. I know I lost 2 of the BIG BOYS about 1 1/2 years ago. For no reason at all, they just died.

Well anyway thanks for the compliments!

Wow, those fish are awesome, and one of my favorites. "One Day" I will have a tank big enough to keep them happy and healthy.
