Oh no! Sorry to hear that. Sad

Definitely get a top. Mine are all covered except for openings at the back for filters and such, and I still get an occasional jumper!

Sorry for your loss, I have had a 6 inch frontosa jump & make it through my lid. I have no idea how he did it, but opened the top lid and hit the floor. Found him way too late Sad
Again, sorry for your loss!

a few local guys use this clear plastic mesh screen for covers, they make a frame with the window screen frames.

I haven't had any Africans jump in a while, only the silver hatchets in my
planted tank if I happen to forget to close the top. One day I was feeding them, and one jumped out and hit me in the face! lol

Years ago I had a female fryeri jump out through a 1.5 inch hole in the top of the big tank, how she did that, I have no idea.

Rare Dave was telling me about some fish he had in his store, he left the lid off overnight, and came back the next morning and everyone of them was dead on the floor!

srry to hear this D! Ive had a few jumpers myself, its usually due to aggression or they just get really spooked and jump out. Ive had dried up fish under the fish tanks that i never realized were missing lol lord knows how long they have been there....

Sorry for your loss D. Several of my tanks have egg crate as tops to keep fish from jumping out or the cat falling.
