Some emersed plants to consider for nitrate removal.
While browsing around for plants to put in my hydroponics trough I came across a few interesting candidates. Pothos of course seems popular but so does the wandering jew and indoor umbrella plants. One thing I hadn't considered I found in an old posting in The Krib. Many of the plants we consider submerged for our aquariums also will work immersed with just their roots in the water. I copied the following list that the poster had had success with.
Echinodorus: bleheri, ocelot, and tenellus; Cryptocoryne: willisi,
wendtii, and balansae; Anubias: Barteri nana, Barteri barteri,
coffeafolia; Rotala macranda, Microsorium pteropus, Bolbitis
heudelotii, and Vesiucularia dubyana.
Most of them are fine looking plants.
