Corydoras trilineatus

gave away my pair about 3 weeks ago, they had spawned the night before but I didn't touch the tank after taking them out, was going to drain it last week and found 5 fry swimming around, guess they survived off the algae and nematodes for a good while.
This is the biggest of them

Here were the parents

when she lays the eggs the male lies on his side on the bottom of the tank and doesn't move. Maybe this is when the fertilizing happens?

she'll usually have 2 or 3 eggs at a time held in her fins

Little story on the Mom

Aug 12, 2009
RULE #1:
Big fish eat little fish

or at least try

My red devil has never bothered my cory pair in the last 5 or 6 months. I guess he's just gotten big enough to see them as an easy meal. Of all fish to get stuck, a catfish! The dorsal spine punctured his lip like a fishhook, that fist wasn't coming out on it's on.

So I grabbed the wire cutters, hemostats and a bamboo shiskabob stick to help hold his mouth open. Cut the dorsal spine as close as possible without hurting the devil. Still wouldn't come out, so felt around with the hemostats and snapped one of her pectoral spines, grabbed the other with the stats and held it close to her body and the fish finally came out.

The Cory is still alive and in my ghost shrimp tank, but don't think she'll be spawning anytime soon.
