Picture of the Month contest rules

Hello everyone, my name is preacherboy, (Mark Cox) and the fine administrators have named me to help run the Competition Team. I am also honored to be working with Klaus Steinhaus and Roger Hopper as members of the Competition Team.

Here are the Picture of the Month Contest Rules:

All submissions are to be sent via email to pics@riftlakecichlids.com (Subject POTM)

The following rules must be followed in order to avoid disqualification of your submission!

If a submission doesn't meet the criteria as stated in our contest rules, then the person submitting the photo will be contacted by email and asked to either re-submit their photo or understand the reason for their photo's disqualification. The Competition Team along with the administrators will have final say on all objections to disqualifications.

Photo Contest Rules:
1. Email must have POTM as title.
2. Resolutions must be either 640 x 480(minimum) or 800 x 600(maximum).
3. No names or identifying marks are allowed on pictures.
4. Any photo that has already been posted in any thread of the forum will not be accepted as a photo contest submission.
5. There will be two categories to enter in this contest; one category for Point & Shoot cameras and one category for DSLR.
6. Maximum of 2 entries per month per category (Point & Shoot; DSLR).
7. You may enter monthly despite being a winner of a previous month's contest!
8. All pictures submitted must match the designated region/lake that the particular designated month calls for.
9. In the event of a tie in any monthly contest, the tie breaker will be decided by a second run-off that is cast among the
forum's membership. If there remains a tie at the conclusion of the run-off vote, then there will be two winners declared
for that month.

Email must have the following information...

1. Which contest you are entering.....DSLR or Point and Shoot
2. Your Username
3. Make and Model number of camera
4. Name of species

You also agree that by submitting a photo that Rift Lake Cichlids has the right to post/use your picture on our forum site.

Contest Timeline:

All entries must be submitted by the 20th of the month. No exceptions, please.

Poll goes up no later than the 21st of the month in each category.

Members have until the last day of each month to vote. The winners in each category will be announced on the first day of the month after the contest is over.

If you are a monthly winner(both categories)your picture will be posted in the Picture of the Month section under the Competition Section.

Our December photo contest will be for Picture of the year! All winning monthly photos from each category will compete against each other for this honor in December. This will again be posted for both DSLR and Point and Shoots!

What is the reason for not being able to enter a photo that has been posted in a thread ?

We want to keep all submissions anonymous in order to avoid favortism and to make people choose based on quality of the photo and not a personality.
