New peacock
I know some folks don't care for OB Peacocks since they were created by dubious means, but they can be stunning.
Here's the young male I got ,he's looking even better today, also a male and female saulosi in the shot, although the male saulosi was a little faded-looking.
My photography isn't great, but you get the idea

Thumbs up. Live and let live. Keep the toilet lid down and don't flush.

Re: New peacock
Thanks guys for showing restraint on the anti hybrid comments, LOL!
If I get any fry and sell them, they will of course be sold as OB PEACOCKS!
Here's my thoughts on the subject:
By now the OB Blueberry peacocks, while a man-made creation, have become established in the hobby.
Much like the designer dogs: Labradoodles and Pekepoos! I think the Dragon's Blood, etc. peacocks have the same dubious origins generations back. I don't think any one is sure exactly how THEY were created.
But they ARE beautiful fish, and some people like them.
Anyhow.... since the OB's supposed increased aggression is thought to come from their mbuna DNA, they should hold their own with the saulosi and hongi. The male hongi is by far the nastiest fish in the tank, btw.
And yes, I am something of a fish snob, also. I was always a dog snob, too,
but I guess as I'm getting older, I'm not as rigid in my views....after all I
now have Oompa-loompahs! lol

Re: New peacock
Well, honey, I do put OB's in my all male tank.
Yes the aggression does come from the Zebra genes in the OB's.
It is hard to get the mbuna meanness out of them.
I am not high on hybrids myself. I have kept the OB's and think if they are in all male tanks they offer great color. I did not breed them, or offer them for sale. I ultimately got rid of them due to aggression.
I also do not believe in knocking fellow fish keepers for what they do. Unless they endanger thier fish. If you mix fish that will most likely kill other fish, IE: Very mean fish with less aggressive fish that are likely to kill the others.
I am also not happy with people that mix different parameters.
IE: African, and American cichlids.
If you like the OB's then keep them.. it is your choice.

Re: New peacock
So far the peacocks are not showing any aggressiveness at all.
if anybody gets removed from that tank, it will be the Hongi Kipuma, the
male at times harasses the other fish. I think he keeps the male saulosi
in "pale mode". The female saulosi do the normal mbuna behavior of
"bump and chase" with each other also.
Mind you, compared to the occaisional antics in the demasoni tank, that ain't nothin'!

Re: New peacock
Of the two male OB peacocks I used to have some years ago, one was moderately aggressive and the other was quite passive.
But my pure fish are just as unpredictable in their behavior. One of the most hostile fish in my tanks is a big old female yellow lab and my oldest auratus gets along great with everyone in his tank.

Re: New peacock
Well if you are talking pure mbuna's these guys are not in the
same league. OB's are just more aggressive than other peacocks.
Mine were in a all male peacock tank.
