Goodbye to the Maison Reefs...

Post by football mom on Sun Jun 13, 2010 10:13 am

Well, since I spent all my $$ on the SW tank, instead of getting the 6 ft tank I had planned for the Met. Maison Reefs, my "Reefers" were getting just too big and rowdy for the 55 they were living in. I talked to Dave Schummacher (Dave's Rare Aquarium Fish)
in San Antonio (such a nice young man!) He was happy to take my group and plans to breed them, hope he has better luck with them breeding than I
did. He promised that he would save some fry for the Capt and I if he gets any.
I was sad to see them go, but walking around Dave's Rare Fish is like being a little kid in the worlds biggest candy store! lol
After much deliberation, and Stubaby running out of patience waiting for me to make up my mind, I got something I have always loved, with different
coloration than anything I have right now: a very nice male Red Empress (Protomelas taeniolatus) and 3 females. One of the females in the tank was
holding, I tried to talk Dave out of that one, but no go....ha ha.
I also got a male Paracyprichromis niggriventis to go with the 3 smaller ones I got at the auction, they were from him also, but since I couldn't tell if I had a male or not, he picked out a nice male for me.
I also got a couple of Hap ruby greens for a young fishkeeper I know, and I'm holding them for him.
Anyway, I'll get pics of the new Red Empress soon.

Sorry you had to let them go but it sounds like you got some good stuff in return. Wink

As awesome as the Maisons look, it sounds like you picked up some equally great looking fish. And who knows. Their may still may be room for them sometime down the line.

I hate you let them go.
Sometimes we have to give them up.

It sounds like you got some good ones.
Post a pic of the Red Empress, I would love to see the different color, you are talking about.

Dave, is a very nice guy. I have met him, and talked on the phone with him several times.
