Paracyp Fry

Stripped 2 females tonight and got 19 free swimmers!!! They are the prettiest fry I've ever seen with my own 2 eyes, even have blue highlights on thier fins already. They are hanging out on the sides of the tank and the sponge wall just like the adults do when they're sleeping. I got some pic's that are pretty decent but they're a lil grainy as I had to really zoom in on these lil fella's.

Time for an update.

I'm growin em out to sell but I might have trouble parting with them... I really love the paracyps and wouldn't mind having a group of them in several of my tanks. lol

Lemme get some more growing out (got 2 more females holding now) and I'll make you a deal on some that you won't be able to beat anywhere else... just cuz we're buds

I'll have to post a warning here: I am dead set against stripping, so you will find some strange comment when I see that word in connection with cichlid.

However, congratulations to your pretty fry Mike and of course your pictures. They came out pretty good. I also understand that you like some groups in other tanks. These guys are very peaceful and interesting to watch.
I seperate my females into a 10g maternity tank until they spit by themselves.

I had to strip a catfish out of my red devil's mouth a couple of months ago
Otherwise, I just let the Africans be.

Hey, there is always an exception to the rule. No problem to strip to save a life

Well, I completely missed all these posts somehow

But you'll be proud to know the next female held to term and spit on her own in the fry chamber of the tank.

I stripped the first 2 because they were getting very thin and somewhat harassed in the tank, the next female I just stuck in the fry chamber and let her hang out with all the kids. She was able to just hang out and rest and made the quickest post spawn recovery, so based on that alone I will continue going about it that way.

Thanks for all the compliments everyone, I'll try to get some new pic's of them as they grown a good bit now.

I can honestly say have never striped a fish.............................Because I'm too lazy to catch them!
