The Fish Room (Round 2)
For those that have known me for a while, you know that I started a fish room last year.
Well, I've been at it again
This time, I will get tanks set up
To catch everyone else up, here's the plans.
The room is approx 15' x 12' with a 9' ceiling and is located in the basement.
Number of tanks will depend on my wallet more than amount of space available.
Inhabitants will be mainly Tanganyikan cichlids, many of them wild caught.
Here we were getting it cleaned up and ready to start the project.
As this is very tiring work, I dragged the kids away from the tv and made them help
There was a duct running along the wall in the fishroom. I had to build a bulkhead to box it in before I could start the drywall.
Since I'm an Electrician by trade, I figured I'd fancy up the wiring a bit to help automate the tank lights
This timer will control receptacles that are on a dedicated lighting circuit, only tank lights will be plugged into those receptacles.
There are also equipment receptacles that are wired straight into the panel. Each wall has it's own 15a circuit
I hate drywall worse than any other phase of construction, it sucks profusely
Everything was going great, I needed to notch a 2x4 that I was using for blocking. I used the miter saw. I held the board away from the fence to catch the center of the blade, the blade bound up which slammed my hand into the fence which crushed my ole pinky finger!!!
(this finger is still messed up to this day which really ticks me off when I'm trying to play the guitar as I use my pinky frequently )
Once I was able to use my left hand again I continued the drywall, but being that I HATE drywall work it was very hard to make myself go down there and do it.
Today I will be doing the final sanding of the room so I figured it was time to bring this thread back to life here at our new site. More pic's to come later today

As soon as I came upstairs I was either talking to you in chat or texts... can't remember but you were right there with me. You're the reason there was a photo of it, you just had to see the carnage. I remember the wife telling me to put ice on it, I told her I'd chew it off first .
As soon as I finish my pot of coffee... I'm headed down there and I'll take the camera with me.

Gee, Mike, it's been so long, I had forgotten all about your fish room project!
And if you had listened to your wife and used that ice, your finger might be all better by now.

Looks good Mike, but a good think you had all of that qualified help.
You would have been 2 years getting done.
I want to see a plaque with their names on it.
I can't wait to see the finished product.

Re: The Fish Room (Round 2)
Thanks everyone!!!
I noticed something looks a lil different in the fishroom today.
Got the ceiling painted
But Wait!!! What's that???
One wall painted... but wait!!! What the!!!
When I was building my house, I was told I wasn't a true Redneck if I didn't move into it before it was finished... which I did
Should the fishroom be any different?
Heyall Naawwww!!!
