Nice pictures Bull. How long was it from the first shots till the last? Should we be waiting to see fry pics to go along with the progression.

Nov 2007-jun 2009, took 11 months for him to start getting blue in the face. She swallowed her first brood.
they spawned again a couple of days ago

Looks like she may have swallowed some of these too, looks like she might have a few left. Might take her another try to get it right.

She was still holding, she spit the eggs this morning and some of the fry that was in the tank ate them. Funny how sshe didn't attack the other fry, maybe she thought they were hers?

Well at least they have the breeding part down so maybe it won't be long until you have some fry make it. Does seem weird that she didn't eat the other fry. My venestus is a fry killer always the first to get a convict.

Had another spawn from her but she spit the eggs the next day, guess she's a slow learner.
few more recent pics

she's chasing the venustus off

funny how some fish only pick on certain other fish, these two ignore all the other fish and usually hang out together, but sometimes the livingstonii just gets tired of her groupie. The other fish leave her alone, maybe because they know the tank boss will get them.

2 shots not even 5 minutes apart

This one coulda been better but I just liked the angles

The male died this morning, thought he was playing dead. No wounds or anything like he'd been in a fight. He was still colored up when I took him out, blue head and a dark olive green body. Don't know wth happened. Maybe those years in the overcrowded 55gal caught up to him, he shoulda been 10" by now.
Had a nice picture thread dedicated to him somewhere silent
