Once in a while I'll get lucky and the autofocus will lock on one. Can't wait for the new macro lens to get here, hopefully it'll be able to focus on those guys a little better.

Photography is a great hobby. I think i´m gonna buy Canon EOS 1000D after the Christmas holiday. They have very good prices on that model at the moment.

trying out the new toy

focusing is a PITA with fish that won't stay still, close up there's no depth of field, only the edges of his gills are in focus

Unless I can get a new chip for it, I'm stuck with wide open aperture. Time to start saving for a good lens Rolling Eyes

The male's back to chasing the female off, the fry are following him around, mom stays at the back near her hole most of the time but comes out for food and doesn't bother the fry, it's like they just all disowned her.

Wow, they are really growing quickly!

I hope he will let mom out of her hole once in a while. My male transcriptus is doing that with his female, even with new fry to be cared for, and it's starting to tick me off. Mad

Great shots Jeff!!! (like that's anything new lol!)

Interesting behavior. Fish sure are hard to figure out sometimes. It'll be interesting to see what happens next.

just a few quick no flash shots

last week when I did a waterchange I drained the tank down to about 8" of water and took a propane torch to that algae, it instantly turned green after just heating it up just a little, a few days later it faded and I brushed it off and did another waterchange. Still have a few patches but added some java moss, hopefully that will help keep it under control. Can't wait for it to spread, right now it just looks like crap.

AV mode usually, on the lowest aperture setting. Used ISO 1600 in the last 2, think the last post was ISO 400
That first one this time I just used ISO 800 in manual mode
Used my macro lens with 2.8 aperture, the depth of field widens the further back I get.
I don't like using high ISO but I guess when the settings and lighting are good it doesn't make too much noise.
Tried some shots on the 180 with the same settings and they just came out grainy.
