24 X 24 shellie tank

Post by football mom on Thu Dec 10, 2009 7:39 pm

Well, I finally got around to making room for that 24X24 tank I got used from the salt water fish dealer. I just got done cleaning it, and it turned out pretty good.
I'm planning on putting my Multi colony in it, they have taken over their 15 long, and this will give them twice as much room. I will try to get some pictures soon,
and new ones of my other tanks and fish, too.
It's good to be able to get back on the fish forums after being off-line for so long!

Well, I got the tank as clean as I could, I think it had been used for growing corals, so there was a lot of "crud" on it.
It's in my fishroom on a homemade table. I took some pictures of it, empty
and with sand. I used a bag of Quickcrete play sand, not the whitest of sand, kind of beige-beachy, but it was cheap.
I'm going to lfs today and cash in some store credit and get a filter and glass top. I think the glass made for a 75 gal (one of two pieces) will just work well, and cover most of the tank. I already have a light.
I will take more pics and post them as I go along!
Isn't fun to set up a new tank? Just think of all the posibilities! lol

It is fun! That's the problem -- when it's all done and the fish are all moved in, you want to do it again and again. bounce

The wife put me on a no new fish ban until after Xmas... so I've been stockpiling tanks and supplies... That'll teach her!!!

Lookin forward to the pic's!!! Wink

Well....technically, it's not a new tank. It's been out in the garage since early in the summer. lol I cashed in some store credit for a new 24inch glass top, filter, and took seeded media out of an existing filter. I had an extra heater and light, and used some pieces of petrified wood that I have been putting in and out of fish tanks for years. I left some space in the back right corner to have room possibly for another tang pair of some kind.
I like the final results. The multies are in there now, checking out and claiming their new real-estate.
I have pictures, will get them posted.
I also put the 4 gold occies in a 10 by themselves, and the 15 long the multies were in now has the Captain's juvie rusties and a single tiny lab.
I have spent 2 days just "playing" with fish!!

That's a neat-looking setup. It took me a while to spot the fish in there. Smile

Very nice. I have a tank similar that has a divder. I think it was used as a sump. I might take the divider out and do something like that.

I went by the lfs yesterday and showed Eric pics of it. He was telling me he's liking the square footprint, also. He just set up a tank at his house
4ft X 4ft X 2ft high. I would love to see it.
