Sexing mbuna (red zebras)

These are the redXred variants, in some subspecies the males are blue(that'd take all the fun out of sexing them)

The female is on top
male on the bottom, he is a lighter color, and the head is wider, but I have a female with a big head also.


Here's the male, notice the lower half is lighter, actually has a blue tint to it, I have a female with the exact head shape.

The vent is pretty close to the same size as the anus, this is the most accurate way to tell.

and her vent, sorry the pic didn't come out as clear, it's dark and hard to focus. But you can see how the vent is at least twice the size of the anus.

I have a question for you Bulldog:
I have a "peach" colored Red Zebra just like
the last pic you posted.

Do the females every color up like the
peach colored male?

Not positive, but I've always heard that only the males have that color.
