i was just wondering if anyone goes without feeding there fish for a day or 2.
what are your reasons for doing or not doing this?

i usually do it for a day to 2 days max for about every 2-3 weeks

i do this for 3 reasons . one is to let the fish naturally clean themselves out
and also it helps the fish "hunt" for any food that that is left in the tank that has
fallen in between rock crevices and such. plus it helps to get any food that might
be missed during water changes out to less foul up the water...

what are your thoughts?

I fast mine occasionally, a day or two, for no real reason. I might be gone for the weekend or something like that.

I have read that fasting one day a week is beneficial, but I have a tough time not feeding them when they are jumping and thrashing around for their meal.

I fast my guys solely on the basis of my work schedule. I used to have to leave town on business for a day or 2. I have an automatic feeder, but it is only good for one feeding a day. There were times that my scheduled 'trips' would extend for a couple of days. If they were to be without food for more than 2 days, I would have someone go to my house and feed them. I do not intentionally fast them though, worst case - they will get some cucumber slices, or spinach in a suction cupped clip.
