I have a Yellow Lab which is holding eggs, which is great but I have a very young male Lab who is not helping the female in anyway and is really young. I only other males in the tank are a same size JD, a Kribensis and a Auratus who is staying by the female and is sort of chasing anything away from where she is.
Is the Auratus maybe the dad? What are your thoughts?

The auratus is a known bully and has the natural inclination to make life miserable for all the rest of the tanklmates. Most likely he is the dominante male and the one who sired the clutch. He is in no way "protecting" the female and will probably run her ragged. I would set up a small tank for the female with a filter that has some of the bio-material from your main tank in it. She is going to need the rest.

I agree with iceblue. Mbuna dad's are deadbeats! My first choice would be to leave the mom to spit the fry in the tank, but if the auratus (or any others) are harassing her, I would remove her.

It sounds like you might be understocked. What size is the tank and how many fish are in it?

Its a 55 gal I do have two Kribs, 3 cats, sucker, the JD, the two labs, auratus, a Big angel some zebra teras and 2 gourami the tank is only 2 months old so I am still trying to figure it out. The water is fine. I wanted a angel tank but they kept dieing I think it was the water at the time. I don't have a extra tank only a small betta square plastic tank, can I put her in there with a air stone? They are all about 2" each.

How long before the eggs hatch? Then how long before the yok sack is gone and I should start feeding them?

You said you're still trying to figure it out -- do you mean which type of fish you want to go with? I love mbuna, so I vote for those.

If you decide to save these fry, you don't need to feed them until they have been released by mom. If you strip and tumble them, you can feed when the sack is gone. You'll be able to see that when it happens.
