125gal and 45gal stand build (day 1)

Post by ovyaker75 on Sun Mar 06, 2011 6:52 pm

here are some pics of the stand that Im building, I started with the top and bottom frame

I made it 38 inches high for better viewing

I used poplar wood to trim it out

and used birch plywood for the sides

as you can see there is just enough room for a 45 gal on the bottom, think thats going to be my shellie tank once I moved in fully! next is going to be the trim work, cabinet doors and the hood! and of course staining Very Happy

Looks good. I like stands with a little extra height.

And here in Vegas we appreciate your donation. Unfortunately for most people, Vegas wasn't built by winners.

Project's looking good so far. Will you be putting some support under the top rim?

Good call, I wondered that myself. If not the tank weight will be supported by the screws alone. Shocked

I actually put brackets and thru bolted the leg frames and the rim with a squirt of liquid nails for extra strength, so shes plenty strong compared to some stands ive seen in the lfs
