Update/Question

Post by rkraposa on Sun Jan 30, 2011 3:39 pm

Hello everyone. Thanks again for all the input and help over the last 3 weeks. So...it has been 22 days since my set up. Had a major problem getting rid of ammonia over the first few weeks. Ammonia has been at ZERO for 3 days now (finally!!) At this point, however, still no nitrites. I've heard some say that during the cycle, it is possible to have no nitrite spike at all. Anyone have thoughts on this? Thanks

Is your test kit new? Not an old, possibly expired one? And to be clear, you are talking nitrites and not nitrates?

I guess it would be possible, you have a small enough tank a 55 right? If you did enough water changes and kept the same filter media in i would guess it would be possible ponder

scratch It's really strange that you never had any nitrite.

Have you tested for nitrates? You should have some reading for that if you are at zero ammonia and nitrite.
