Friday I retrieved about 15 or so little BN's from my 33 long. I put them in with their bigger brothers and sisters.
Quite a few of this second batch must be albino, they were a pale golden yellow, as opposed to brown.
Those of you that raise BN's, what's the best thing to feed them to get them to grow quickly?

Hongi fry are doing well, and wow, do I have demasoni fry!

We do need a general purpose section, don't we? I think I stuck my bristlenose topic in South America. Very Happy

Mine grew really quickly on canned (unsalted) french-style green beans. They wouldn't touch the cut or whole green beans, they insisted on french-style! I also give them some NLS.

They like raw zucchini and leaf or romaine lettuce as well and I keep a chunk of raw carrot in the tank. The carrot can stay in there for a few days without spoiling. I remove the other fresh veggies if they aren't finished in a few hours and they devour the green beans, so there aren't any leftovers. It does create a huge amount of poop though!

I've only had the three batches of eggs, so I'm pretty inexperienced with this, but that's what I've been feeding and they are growing well. I know we have some very experienced BN keepers that stop in, so I hope they can tell you what they really need!

Don't know if you saw my video of the plecos eating their beans....

I didn't think about canned green beans.. will have to get some.
They have eaten slivers of zucchini, and I also gave them some of the
dried green seaweed that comes in sheets.
My demasoni also love that, and their blue color really seems to come out after feeding it to them.
I'll bet the BN's would eat hulled green peas like my mbunas do, also.
My mbuna won't touch lettuce of any kind, but I could try some dark green Romaine leaves with the BN fry.
Thanks!
This is the 4th time I've had a spawn, but only the second batch of fry I've been able to save.

mine are kept with the parents until I move the parents to a new breeder tank. I feed decapsulated brine shrimp eggs , Omega One veggie flakes , spirulina pellets & flakes , earthworm sticks & any algae covered pot , rock or filter parts from other tanks.

I have been giving them NLS, veggie wafers, and put in an algae covered rock, also.
They seem to have eaten every thing I put in there.
I would have left them in the 33 long with the adult BN's, but there's little
demasoni in there, and I did see them picking at the tiny BN's when they were sticking to the glass, so I took them out.
