Juliedochromis breeding
My transcriptus seems to have multiple fry of different sizes have taken up a very secure area for there nest amongst a pile of slate rock. Fry does not seem visible amongst these rocks. Parents patrol this area very ballistic and take turns to guard when leaving this area. 2 days ago I notice newly hatched fry inside the nest while the other fry swims around the nesting site.
Dickfeldis saw a few fry swimming around there nesting site. I do not know how much fry do they spawn. They have also taken a secure area for breeding. I do not if fry is still around ghr last I saw them was when they in between the pot plant and rocks were parents are hiding them. I also a bigger fry also
disappear into this area.
Reganis are busy pairing it seems I have 3 pairs. 3 big and 3 small there is lots of chasing around my big tank. There is lots of breeding caves in my tank.

How long do you have them, they are extremely secret about the spawning site, I did not realise that they had spawned until I saw little fry popping out to eat. Now I have multiple of batches. Once they get going they do not stop, what I have notice if the temp is about 26degrees they start to spawn below that nothing.

1000 liters! Wow, that's around 250 gallons isn't it? Do you have any pictures? It must be a great home for your Julies.
I have one pair in a small tank and they have a brand new spawn now too. I saw a couple of the tiniest fry yesterday while feeding.

I kept them for over a year in a 20 long with rocks and lots of dwarf chain sword grass... several times they acted like they were guarding a nest, but never any fry.
Several months ago I moved them to a community tank because I needed the 20 long for some aneocolor fry...
I think the J. transciptus are just about my favorite Tang, I sure do wish they had spawned.

They are so secret about their spawning, my pair spawns eggs near the back glass of my tank so I always have and eye view about the progress of their eggs hatching. This week the eggs had hatched and fry are free swimming quite alot of fry swimming around. Their previous batch fry are just swimming all over the show around the nesting site. They are more visible nibbling on the algae on the slate rocks. I did realize that they had another batch of fry before this batch.

My transcriptus just spawned a week ago and the eggs had started to hatch. Larger fry are venturing further away from their nesting site nibbling on the glass where the algae had been growing. Larger fry also helo to defend the nest when their parents had left the site.

Do not be suprise that you might have fry. They are so invisible especially when you have slate rock.
